We also try to ensure that every visit by our patients to our office turns out to be a fun and light-hearted one. As much as possible, we avoid trying to make it a serious and even boring affair for our patients. It’s one of our ways of making a positive impression on them and ensuring that they’ll come back to us for future dental treatments and services.
A lot of our services are quite comprehensive and involve plenty of detailed procedures. Two examples of those procedures are hemostasis and coagulation.
Hemostasis and Coagulation
Check out the following description of hemostasis and coagulation. What are their similarities and differences? Read on and find out some of the important details below:
Hemostasis
Hemostasis is considered to be a natural process that the body activates in order to stop too much bleeding that’s due to an injury. It is thought of as the first line of defense in the healing process of a wound, especially given the fact that it’s a natural process in itself. How is hemostasis able to stop the bleeding? By using a combination of the following factors – plasma, platelet, and vascular. Hemostasis keeps blood in its liquid state in certain conditions.
Coagulation
Coagulation is different from hemostasis in the sense that it’s only part of the process. It’s the last stage in hemostasis. Even though it’s just a part of hemostasis itself, it’s still a crucial part of the process. An injured blood vessel could easily result in shock or even death because of a case of too much blood loss. Blood coagulation or blood clotting is the best way to deal with it. It’s able to address the situation by converting certain elements of the blood into gel-like substances.
Hemostasis and Coagulation in Dental Surgery
The services that we offer here at Prime Dental include ones where dental surgery is performed. So what that means is that we also have to deal with bleeding a lot. We certainly encounter plenty of uncontrolled hemorrhages in our different procedures.
That is usually considered a fully normal situation. However, if the bleeding somehow becomes difficult to manage, then it becomes a serious emergency situation. Should it happen after surgery, then it needs immediate attention and action. If the bleeding isn’t properly handled and stopped, it could become very dangerous.
To properly control the bleeding and eliminate any danger, there has to be proper knowledge about hemostasis and coagulation. At Prime Dental, we’re more than capable of handling such situations as we have the required skills and experience to deal with them if they occur.
