Soft Tissue Crown Lengthening

We should start with soft tissue crown lengthening. This is typically done to help with the improvement of the gum tissue’s health. It can also be done in order to help the mouth prepare for a restorative or even a cosmetic procedure. Yet another reason to do it is to correct so-called gummy smiles. A gummy smile is when there are excess gum tissues that cover the teeth.

Soft tissue crown lengthening helps you expose more of your natural tooth by reshaping and recontouring bone and gum tissue. The procedure can be used on a single tooth, multiple teeth, or the entire gum line. It would help show off and improve your teeth.

The procedure is performed under local anesthesia. Now if there are any existing dental crowns, they will have to be removed first before the procedure is performed. Once it’s done, the crowns will be replaced.

The dentist will make a series of small incisions around the soft tissue. These incisions will serve to separate the teeth from the gums. Now the dentist has access to the teeth’s roots and the bone below them.

When the surgery’s over, the teeth will look longer as a result of the repositioned gums. Everything will be healed in about two to three months.

Fibroma Removal

You might have noticed a recent tissue growth inside your mouth and that the growth is getting in the way of your teeth. On top of that, it’s also quite painful because of the bites and the sores that are caused by it. The tissue growth is known as oral fibroma and it is caused by the constant irritation of a particular part of your mouth and it will lead to the fibrous tissue scab.

The oral fibroma can be dealt with by a simple surgical procedure if it persists in bothering you. This procedure will be performed under local anesthesia. Who would be able to perform it? A dentist who has surgical training will remove some parts of the oral fibroma to flatten the skin profile. A wound would result from this and it would then be closed using a few stitches, but only if the dentist didn’t use lasers for the wound.
