What is Children’s Dentistry?
Children deserve the best high-quality dental care available to them. By coming in for regular checkups and preventative care, your child can expect a full and healthy smile for life. We offer comprehensive dental care for children and teens of all ages. The sooner you get your child in for their first appointment, the better off their new smile will be.
Why would Children’s Dentistry be needed?
In order to keep your child’s teeth healthy and bright, preventative care is an absolute must. Preventative care starts at home with regular brushing and flossing, but it is just as important to bring them in for exams and cleanings every six months. Likewise, the more that you bring your child into the dental office, the more used to the experience they will be. This can prevent instances of fear and anxiety because they are not used to coming into the office.
Who is a candidate for Children’s Dentistry?
Every child is a good candidate for dental care. In fact, it’s a good idea to bring your baby in for their first visit once you notice their baby teeth coming up through the gums. From there, twice-yearly appointments help us to keep their teeth clean, healthy and protected. We offer a variety of preventative care treatments that are great for keeping their baby teeth as healthy as possible.
What happens during your loved one’s Children’s Dentistry appointment?
Your child’s appointment will start by having them sit comfortably in one of our exam rooms. Our licensed hygienist will carefully clean your child’s teeth of any built-up tartar and staining. The teeth are polished to a high shine and flossed to remove inter-dental plaque. We then come into the room and perform an examination. The exam helps us to look for areas of decay (cavities) as well as monitor the development of their baby and permanent teeth. We offer other preventative care options during their appointment as well, such as sealants and fluoride. Our goal is to provide your child with a calm and relaxed experience, and we use kid-friendly dental terminology as often as possible.
